Rdn/Yahlover.worm is a deceptive computer Trojan. The sinister program tries to make users believe there is a virus on their system and contact a bogus hot line to have it removed. At the same time, the actual parasite exploits your computer’s resources for malicious purposes. The Trojan can install more infections to your system, record information on you and make your device unresponsive. You should discard the bogus notifications and take action against the actual threat – Rdn/Yahlover.worm.

How does Rdn/Yahlover.worm pose a threat to your security?

Since the shady program works through background processes, its operations can go unnoticed for a prolonged time period. The aftermath could be devastating, so you should be quick to take measures. The first symptom for the presence of Rdn/Yahlover.worm is a degrade in the machine’s performance. The infected devices become slow and often return errors. Your system will crash on many occasions and fail to complete routine tasks. It will report different errors, like low CPU, unresponsiveness and the infamous BSOD (blue screen of death).

Rdn/Yahlover.worm is easier to identify, compared to other Trojans. The nefarious program displays a fake error report, urging the user to take measures against a supposed virus. The bogus message lists a fake hot line which the person has to call for support. The number is 1 888 373 0151. The Trojan also plays an audio recording, containing a warning message. The malevolent program instructs the victim to contact the help center and report the issue to Google. By referencing a reputable organization, the cyber criminals make the fake notification appear genuine. We warn you not to dial the listed number. Doing so would contact you with an agent who is involved with the scheme. He will try to sell you an unreliable security application which could turn out to be harmful.

Even if you discard the bogus security alerts, you can still face consequences. Rdn/Yahlover.worm is capable of installing malware to computers without requiring involvement from the proprietors of the targeted devices. The Trojan can download and install a parasite to your system through a background process, leaving you completely oblivious to the event. The most harmful type of infection the furtive program can allow into your machine is ransomware. This kind of virus encrypts files and demands a ransom to provide the decryption key.

Another malicious activity Rdn/Yahlover.worm performs is data theft. The malignant program tracks users’ browsing sessions and records details on them and their system. The data the Trojan can access includes your browsing history, tracking cookies, system build, browser type and version, IP address, geographic location, email, physical registration, telephone number, user names, passwords and other personal and financial information. The gathered data is traded on the darkweb without authorization.

How is Rdn/Yahlover.worm spread to computers?

You may be wondering how Rdn/Yahlover.worm got installed to your machine. There are a couple of ways for the Trojan to gain access to your PC. The usual occurrence is through a drive-by installation. The furtive program is transmitted via corrupted websites and compromised links. The download and install of Rdn/Yahlover.worm is executed upon entering the infected domain. You need to be cautious about your sources. Do your research on an unfamiliar website before visiting it. The other way for Rdn/Yahlover.worm to access your computer is through a spam email. The Trojan can travel packed with an attachment. The host file will be disclosed as an important document, like a letter, a receipt, an invoice, a bill, a fine, a notice, a subpoena, etc. The spammer will likely introduce himself as a representative of an existing company or entity.
