Remove Motious.com “Virus” from Chrome/Firefox

I wrote this article to help you remove Motious.com. This Motious.com removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

The Motious.com platform is devoted to motorcycling. The website hosts reviews about bikes, biker accessories, and clothes. There is an archive of articles about the latest motorbike models and gear. If you want to keep up with the trends on a daily basis, you can set Motious.com as your homepage and default search engine. The platform targets people who have a vast interest in the sport and lifestyle. The purpose of Motious.com is not to be of service to users. Rather, the website works for a browser hijacker. The rogue program exploits the web browser’s resources for malicious purposes. You should take measures as soon as you notice the presence of the Motious.com hijacker on your system.

The first symptom for the presence of the clandestine program is the change in the browser’s settings. The hijacker resets Motious.com as the homepage and default search provider on its own. You will be unable to revert back to your preferred settings. The shady program has been developed to enforce the custom settings. This is a necessity because the Motious.com website helps carry out the malicious agenda. The hijacker manipulates the search results. It will insert sponsored pages amid the genuine results to your queries. The people behind the furtive tool receive commissions for supporting third party content. They use a monetizing mechanism called the pay-per-click system. People’s activity is detrimental for their success.

Be advised that the sponsored content is questionable in terms of security. The Motious.com hijacker could lead you to corrupted websites, distributing malware. The same risk is evident with the other promotional technique the covert tool employs. The Motious.com hijacker displays advertisements, containing bargain shopping offers. This includes sales, coupons, discounts, package deals, and other exclusives. The ads come in various formats. Pop-ups are the most noticeable of the bunch, as they appear on top of the active browser tabs. They are also the most annoying, as they disrupt people’s work. Other ads show up in the same browser window, yet they cover part of the page’s content. The floating and transitional formats exhibit this behavior. Some less irritating ad instances are the inline, contextual, and interstitial windows. They only lurk in the background.

The Motious.com Virus

The Motious.com hijacker takes notes on people’s activity and brings targeted ads their way. If you have been looking for additions to your wardrobe, you will be shown suggestions for clothes and accessories. Technology geeks can expect to see offers for devices, while renovators will be given furnishing ideas. The Motious.com hijacker does not select specific deals for your convenience. The purpose of the advertising campaigns is to raise revenue through your activity. Again we remind you that the websites the ads lead to are risky.

Furthermore, the Motious.com hijacker poses a threat to users’ personal security. The rogue program will gather data from your browser and sell it on darknet markets. It can record your history, tracking cookies, keystrokes, IP address, email, telephone number, geographic location, zip code, user names, and passwords. Your private details can fall into the hands of cyber criminals. The proprietors of the Motious.com hijacker will not ask for your permission to collect and trade your personal input. The only way to stop them from doing so is to uninstall the malevolent program from your system.

The Motious.com hijacker uses a couple of propagation vectors. The preferred technique is called bundling. Freeware, shareware, and pirated utilities can serve as a download client for the secluded program. The Motious.com hijacker will be included with the main application as a bonus. You will have to find the option and deselect it. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of the programs you add to your system. To avoid faulty tools, you need to stick to official software distribution websites.

The other dark pattern the Motious.com hijacker makes use of is spam emails. The obscure program can hide behind an attachment to a bogus notification. The person behind the misleading email can state that the file is a document from a legitimate entity. Spammers often write on behalf of genuine entities, like the national post, government institutions, banks, courier firms, shopping platforms, the local police department, and others. Accessing the attachment can be enough to open the door for the Motious.com hijacker. Make sure the sender is reliable before opening any files. Check his contacts.
