How did you get stuck with Toothy? Well, the PUP is mainly spread via a huge “Add Extension” scam. You get redirected to soma dodgy site which displays a message, stating that you cannot leave without clicking on some of the provided buttons. The page contains a code that actually prevents you from leaving. The message basically urges you to install an application. It also provides a “close” or “leave” button but they are corrupted. Clicking on them enables the full-screen mode of your browser.
What you should do is use your Task Manager to close your browser ASAP. If you stay, you will end up installing the nasty extension. The hackers are trying to confuse you. Don’t let them. Toothy Virus Removal
Run the Task Manager by right clicking on the Taskbar and choosing Start Task Manager.
Look carefully at the file names and descriptions of the running processes. If you find any suspicious one, search on Google for its name, or contact me directly to identify it. If you find a malware process, right-click on it and choose End task.
Open Control Panel by holding the Win Key and R together. Write appwiz.cpl in the field, then click OK.
Here, find any program you had no intention to install and uninstall it.
Open MS Config by holding the Win Key and R together. Type msconfig and hit Enter.
Go in the Startup tab and Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.
