Remove “Search My Tabs” Virus | Updated

I wrote this article to help you remove “Search My Tabs” Virus. This “Search My Tabs” Virus removal guide works for all Windows versions.

The “Search My Tabs” extension is advertised as a tool which helps you find your opened tabs? It sounds pretty useless and it really is useless. Yes, we all know that sometimes it is very annoying when you open two or three tabs before you find the one you were looking for. Especially if you are in the middle of an intensive online research and you want to act fast. We have been there. Yet, an extension like this will not help you. And not only because it is just useless but also because this one is not even a legitimate one.

“Search My Tabs” is a PUP, aka a potentially unwanted program. The thing is the word “potentially” is unnecessary. The program is malicious and unwanted indeed. There is no place for it in your system. If you are already infected, though, do not panic but act promptly to remove it. Lucky for you, the PUP is relatively easy to tackle but if you leave it on board it will cause you problems. We haven`t come across a cyber infection which doesn’t cause problems. So, as soon as you spot this nonsense, delete it. Find where it is lurking from and remove it without thinking twice about it. The sooner you get rid of “Search My Tabs”, the better for both yours and your system`s well-being.

The PUP not only doesn’t help you find any tabs but makes the mess even bigger. Because of it, your online activities turn into a hellish experience. A nightmare. You are constantly interrupted by redirects and numerous pop-up commercials. All of your browsers receive a brand new, malicious plugin which brings and along. You see banners, coupons, deals, offers, in texts, pop-ups, pop-unders, video ads, great deals, etc. and etc. every time you so much as touch one of your previously reliable browsers. Why do you think you are drowning in a sea of ads? Because crooks want to earn pay-per-click revenue, of course, and the ads help them.

Each of your clicks on a commercial fills their pockets. But there is something else. Aside from sponsoring crooks, by clicking you are also risking to compromise your PC even more. Nothing this PUP generates is safe or reliable. If you click on the wrong ad, you automatically invite more malware in your system which is already underperforming because of this single PUP. Do yourself a favor and do not download more infections. The one you have it bad enough. Moreover, delete the PUP as well. It does not help you in any way. On the contrary, it only causes you headaches. Use our removal guide below to get rid of it for good. Do it now. Delays lead to regrets.

How to protect yourself from future infections? Well, first of all, get yourself a trustworthy anti-malware program to help you. Second, do not be careless. Do your due diligence, especially when installing programs off the web. Do not rush to finish the installation. Take your time to read the Terms and Conditions/EULA before accepting them. But most importantly, always opt for the Custom settings in the Setup Wizard instead of the Basin ones. They take more time but they also allow you to see if there are some “bonus” programs attached to the app you originally wanted. If there are, you can also deselect them all. Do it. Crooks often attach their malware to free applications in order to trick victims. Don’t let them succeed. Deselect all extras and then you can still finish installing the program you wanted in the first place. Always keep your guard up. Hackers are praying for your distraction.
