I wrote this article to help you remove Ourstartpage. This Ourstartpage removal guide is working for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Ourstartpage is a search engine which provides a different user interface and alternative functionality. The website supports 13 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, French, German, Russian, Romanian, Polish, Turkish and Thai. Ourstartpage offers search result enhancement services. The platform features a tab for default browsing and filters for images, videos and news. The additional functions include a clock, a calender and a links bar. Ourstartpage gives quick access to the following websites: Facebook, Deals Berger, Instagram, Twitter, Amazon and Ebay. The platform has an ordinary outlook, but research has shown that it is connected to a browser hijacker.
What makes the hijacker behind Ourstartpage dangerous?
The insidious program will overtake your web browser and make unauthorized changes to its internal settings. Your homepage and default search engine will be reset to ourstartpage.com. The website is a pawn of the hijacker. It returns unreliable results. The rogue program inserts supported websites amid the genuine search results. The sponsored pages are risky. They could spread infections. Ourstartpage should not be used as a search engine, although the hijacker will not give you an alternative. The only solution is to eliminate the malicious software from your computer.
The Ourstartpage hijacker has a couple of ways to take you to sponsored websites. The most effective approach is to show you ads. Online advertising has become a notable sector in the past several years. A lot of organizations use or provide advertising services on the Internet. The increase of this practice has lead to significant misuse. Developers have ventured to take shortcuts by creating rogue software.
The Ourstartpage hijacker disregards security in favor of profit. The clandestine program does not run security scans to filter dangerous websites. It supports all websites it gets paid to. There are two main ways to conduct advertising campaigns. The seamless method is to change your search results, while the more straightforward approach is to show you pop-up advertisements.
There is a secondary way of making proceeds which poses a further security threat. The Ourstartpage hijacker can collect information from your web browser. This encompasses your browsing history, IP address, keystrokes, email account, geographic location, demographic details, telephone number, user names and passwords. Your private data can be sold to cyber criminals without your knowledge.
How can the Ourstartpage hijacker enter my system?
There are two ways for the Ourstartpage hijacker to infiltrate your computer. The secluded program is often packed in bundles. Freeware, shareware and pirated programs are common download clients for the hijacker. The shady tool gets added to the terms and conditions of the host program as a bonus. To prohibit its install, you have to find where it is listed and remove the check mark from the box next to it. Be sure to read the end user license agreement (EULA) of all tools you add to your system.
The other way for the hijacker behind Ourstartpage to access your computer is through a spam email. The rogue program often hides behind attachments which go with the letter. The sender will try to get you to access the carrier file by stating it is an important piece of documentation. The message can be written on behalf of a reliable entity, like the national post, the local police department, a government branch, a courier firm, a shopping website or a social network. To check whether an email is genuine, proof the contacts the sender has provided in the body of the letter.
