I wrote this article to help you remove Onclkds.com. This Onclkds.com removal guide works for all Windows versions.
Onclkds.com is a URL address, used by a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The rogue tool carries out unsolicited advertising campaigns. Onclkds.com provides a couple of services. The platform gives advertisers the chance to monetize their inventory and run ad campaigns. For these services, the owners of the platform receive a certain payment in commissions. The Onclkds.com PUP supports online ad vendors. For computer users, the application is an annoyance and a threat to their online safety. The clandestine program links to websites without proofing their security certificate. It also has a built-in tracking function which breaches users’ privacy.
The Onclkds.com PUP displays advertisements, promoting shopping deals. The shady program shows deals for various items. The product palette ranges from apparel, accessories, technological devices, furniture, decorative elements, gardening equipment, sports gear, toys, and stationary. The covert tool focuses on bargain listings to have a better chance at acquiring people’s interest. The promoted offers include discounts, coupons, freebies, package deals, and other exclusives. The Onclkds.com PUP also deploys marketing tricks to stimulate people’s senses and shift their attention to the listings. The furtive program accents on the price of the goods with cursive fonts and flash animations. The same effects are applied for the discounts. The ad windows tend to be colorful.
The Onclkds.com PUP produces different kinds of advertisements. They can be divided into two main categories – pop-ups and pop-unders. The pop-up format is less diverse and more intrusive. It has been established much earlier. The reason why advertisers have ventured to create an alternative is because today’s PC users are more informed. Supported advertising is a common practice, but some ads can be risky. Pop-under formats are used by legitimate advertisers, hence why unsolicited advertisements can pass as trustworthy. The formats the Onclkds.com PUP uses include banners, in-text links, contextual, floating, interstitial, transitional, and inline ads.
According to the statement on the website, the advertising content of Onclkds.com is powered by an entity called Propeller Ads Media. There is a link to the official website of the company. The terms and conditions explain that the entity is not held accountable for the content of third party advertisers. The burden of the risk is assumed by the end user. You would not be entitled to receive compensation for security-related issues. The privacy policy relieves the entity from responsibility for people’s personal security. The Onclkds.com PUP can record personal and financial information from your browser. This includes your browsing history, tracking cookies, keystrokes, IP address, email, geographic location, zip code, physical address, telephone number, user names, and passwords. The gathered data is stored into catalogs and sold on the darknet. It could be obtained by cyber criminals.
There are a few ways for the Onclkds.com PUP to enter your computer. The most common distribution technique is bundling. The malevolent program exploits other software utilities, including freeware, shareware, and pirated applications. The download client has the PUP included as a bonus. You have to find where it is listed in the end user license agreement (EULA) and deselect it. If you fail to do so, it would be allowed into your machine. Make sure to choose the custom or advanced installation mode, so that all options would be shown.
Another propagation vector the Onclkds.com PUP uses quite often is spam emails. The secluded tool can be transferred from an attachment to a bogus letter. The sender behind the fake email will acquire your attention by telling you that the attachment is a document. He can write on behalf of a legitimate company or institution to make the message seem genuine. We advise you to check the contacts from your electronic letters before opening files or following instructions from them. The email address is the best sign for the reliability of a given message.
The Onclkds.com PUP can also be transferred via a drive-by installation. Entering a corrupted website is enough to expose your computer to malware. If you have any reason to doubt the reliability of an unfamiliar domain, you should do your research. Security experts and regular PC users make posts and publish articles regarding threats all the time. Doing your due diligence can go a long way. Note that compromised links can redirect you to infected domains. A malicious link can come from many places, including social media networks, spam emails, and hacked messenger accounts.
