How to Remove MediaGet Virus (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) | Updated

MediaGet is advertised as a tool that can be of help to you. In reality, it is not. This app is actually a malicious software from the adware category, designed to flood your screen with heavy advertisements every time you open your browser. The thing with adware is, that it does not target your computer system.

The parasite is programmed to infect every web browser that you have on your PC – Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Explorer, Opera, Safari. Once it gets installed, this nasty app will alter whatever web settings necessary, to carry out its malicious mission. Then, it will turn your web platform into an ad-displaying tool.

On every page that you visit, the adware will display numerous intrusive ads in different forms like pop-ups, banners and even in-text. You see, the MediaGet parasite is ordered to provide as many adverts as possible. It’s not its job to verify them. That being said, you never know where a seemingly reliable ad will take you. You might get rerouted to suspicious and even dangerous third-party websites that seek to harm your computer and steal your personal data.

It is important to mention, that the MediaGet app cannot invade on its own. It needs your approval to get installed. Normally, the user installs this adware without even realizing it. The most common mistake is to opt for the Quick mode in the setup wizard when installing a software bundle. This way, if there’s any hidden content in the form of bonus programs or applications, they will get installed automatically.

In order to make sure that no software slips on your computer unnoticed, we recommend selecting a Custom/Advanced type of installation. Any optional installations will become visible to you and you’ll be able to easily deselect them, so they do not get access to your device. Other means of adware distribution include, but are not limited to spam emails and attachments, torrent files, fake updates and infected links.

Adware exists to create revenue to its creators and the pages it will promote. This happens via the pay-per-click scheme. For each ad that you click on, the parasite gets paid. To raise its chance of success, the parasite will monitor your online activity and collect web data like browsing history, habits and search queries. With this information, adware will be able to provide targeted advertisements that will be more likely to get clicked on by the user. Unfortunately, that’s not the only valuable data that the crooks can get their hands on through the malicious software.

Your personal and financial information can be as easily obtained by hackers, thanks to the nasty adware. As if all of this is not enough, this parasite is also responsible for the damages done on your browser. Soon enough, you’ll notice symptoms of the malicious infection – slow internet speed, frequent browser crashes, lagging, etc. At some point, your browser will be unable to work properly and will stop working altogether, due to the heavy load of ads thrown its way.

If you want to regain control over your web browser and protect your online security and privacy, you need to remove this dangerous parasite from your computer before it is able to do any damages!
