Is your browser acting weird lately? Well, is the Fastsearch.mobi website keeps appearing on your screen, you have a right to worry. It appears that your browser has been infiltrated by a nasty hijacker. As soon as this parasite establishes itself on your web platform, it will move on to make the necessary settings changes, that are needed to accomplish its mission. It can install whatever questionable apps or toolbars it sees fit, and will do so without your knowledge and permission. What’s more, the hijacker will turn your browser in an ad-displaying tool.
Shortly after the infiltration, Fastsearch.mobi will start generating multiple ads in different forms – pop-ups, in-text, banners and blinking alert messages. Such promoted content will be specifically targeted to appear more attractive to the user. How? It’s all thanks to the hijacker’s ability to monitor its victim’s online activity and to collect web data like browsing history and search results. The main objective behind this is to create pay-per-click revenue.
The most common means for browser hijacker distribution include free software bundles, fake updates, infected ads and links, torrent files, spam email messages, email attachments and executable files, etc. It is very important to mention that a browser hijacker cannot invade without your permission. Which means, that somewhere, somehow, you gave it access to your computer.
Oftentimes, what happens when you are too hasty and opt for a Quick install. Big mistake. This way, if there’s any malware hidden as additional software, you will not only be unaware of its existence but will also automatically grant it access, along with the program you wanted to install in the first place. Instead, you should select Custom or Advanced mode in the Setup Wizard. By doing so, you can easily view any optional installations and deselect them, so they don’t invade your PC.
Browser hijackers are not harmless. Heed our warning and act against it, or you’ll face a lot of troubles. The more time the parasite is allowed to stay, the more the promoted content will increase in number. This will inevitably affect your browser, which will soon start to experience difficulty displaying all of the ads thrown its way. It won’t be long till it starts crashing and lagging, and, at some point, even stop working entirely. Having a browser hijacker compromises your online security and privacy. In order to keep your personal and financial information away from the hands of hackers, you need to remove this parasite before it is too late!
