How to Remove Eastness (Chrome/Edge/Firefox)

I wrote this article to help you remove Eastness. This Eastness removal guide works for all Windows versions.

Eastness is a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The rogue tool is used to accumulate proceeds. It generates advertisements, linking to sponsored websites. The proprietors of the supported platforms pay for the promotional service. The owners of Eastness receive a certain sum for every time a user clicks on a sponsored link. This monetizing method is known as the pay-per-click system. There are certain risks surrounding this practice, as the owners of Eastness do not account for the websites they link to. This is the main risk around the PUP. There is also a possibility to have personal information extorted from your web browser.

Eastness is not distributed through an official source. The obscure tool is not available for download from an official website. Since it has a low security rating, you will not find it on reputable websites. The PUP relies on other software and spam emails for its distribution. Software bundling is the most common distribution technique for any kind of malware. It is simple and discrete which makes it so successful. The furtive program merges its setup file with the executable of another application. The additional software does not run a separate wizard or open a dialog box. The aim is not to market the PUP to the user, but to hide it from him. Since people tend to discard features they do not need, it is best to keep the extra tool out of sight. Bonus apps are listed in the terms and conditions of the host. Therefore, the best prevention measure is to read the end user license agreement (EULA).

As previously mentioned, spam emails are also used to spread Eastness. The furtive program is in a way appended to a file from the message. The spammer writes a message regarding a certain matter and points to an attached document for the complete disclosure. The attachment is set to prompt the download and install of the contained program when accessed. The moral is that you need to check where your emails are sent from. If the notification comes from a certain entity, it should have been sent from an official email account. You can visit the website of the organization for reference. The contacts page will list the information you need to look up.

Eastness is used for making proceeds. The owners of the PUP take requests from online advertisers. The renegade developers promote third party platforms by generating ads. The content is brought in various formats, including banners, coupon boxes, in-text links, transitional, contextual, interstitial, floating, inline and comparison ads. The shady program provides enticing deals for premium goods. The product palette is selected according to the user’s interests. Eastness can obtain information on your browsing preferences straight from the source. The covert program records browsing histories, keystrokes, tracking cookies, IP addresses, geographic locations, physical coordinates, postal codes, email addresses, telephone numbers, user names, passwords and other sensitive details. The people behind the PUP can sell your input on the darkweb without asking for permission or notifying you.

The advertisements Eastness shows you may look like legitimate offers. The PUP displays deals for products from established brands. Furthermore, some of the ads will get embedded within the pages you view. Before clicking on a listing, make sure it is presented by the website you are currently on. Keep in mind that Eastness tracks your online activity and takes notes on your browsing habits and preferences. The PUP will create a customized niche to match your shopping inquiries. If you have been expanding your wardrobe as of late, the furtive program will show you offers for the clothing items you have been looking for. For technology geeks, Eastness will select state of the art devices. Parents will be shown toys, games, cribs and other essentials for the needs of babies and toddlers.

To recognize the content Eastness is responsible for, look for indicative labels. Although the tool is obscure in most of its actions, it does leave subtle hints for its presence. Since users are reluctant to follow ads from unknown sources, the PUP flags the windows with its name. This is a risky strategy, since people may decide to do research on the stated source. Therefore, we advise you to do so. Look for a sign like “Ads by Eastness”, “Brought to you by Eastness” or “Powered by Eastness”. The PUP would place it on the top or bottom part of the window. If you hover over an ad, the status bar would show you where it leads to. Check if the website in question is considered reliable.
