I wrote this article to help you remove Antanna. This Antanna removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Antanna is a furtive adware program. The tool does not have an official website. It is only spread through underhanded techniques. When it enters your machine, it will begin to work in an equally stealth manner. The adware will use your browser to generate pop-up ads every time you go online. You will have to work through constant interruptions, even if you decide to discard the adverts. In many cases, users are lured by this trickery. Programs like Antanna show bargain offers for various consumer goods in an attempt to garner people’s attention. You should be cautious about the content you follow online. If a proposed deal appears too good to be true, this is probably because it is fake. While avoiding suspicious ads is the first step to keeping your system clean from infections, it is not enough. The rogue software has to be removed to keep you safe from harm.
First of all, let us begin by explaining how you can contact a program like Antanna. The clandestine tool has adopted a few common tricks which allow it to bypass users’ guard. Bundling is a technique which allows a given program to get installed together with another application. The host offers the undesired program as a bonus. The option is purposely listed in the terms and conditions, so that the inattentive user would miss it. The default option is to include the extra software in the installation package. Thus, the solution is to review the end user license agreement (EULA). On another note, it would be for the best to only download confirmed programs from their official websites.
The other distribution technique Antanna uses is spam email campaigns. The covert program travels hidden behind attachments, like MS Office documents, .pdf files, images, compressed archives, .zip folders and others. Of course, the recipient has to be convinced that the message is genuine. In many cases, spammers write on behalf of existing organizations, like the national post, banks, government institutions, courier firms, social networks, shopping platforms and the local police department. The author of the bogus email can list the contacts of the entity in question and copy its logo. It could be difficult to tell whether a given message is legitimate. The best sign you need to look for is the email account. A spammer would write from a fake account.
Programs like Antanna are created to raise proceeds from users’ activity. The adware will show you advertisements, promoting bargain offers for various consumer goods. You will encounter different kinds of ads, including pop-ups, pop-unders, coupon boxes, banners, in-text links, freebies, rebates, floating, inline, transitional, contextual and interstitial ads. The shady program decorates the content with cursive fonts, bright colors and flash animations to make it more noticeable. Antanna will draw your attention to the price of the listed items. As enticing as the cheap quality products may be, you should not hurry to take advantage of the proposals. The first question you should be asking when a window pops up on your screen is where did it come from. There is no point in promoting exclusive deals to random people on the web. Low-priced items always sell out quickly. The ad windows may contain redirects to infected websites. Entering a corrupted web page is enough to contact malware.
Antanna also poses a personal security risk. The clandestine program has tracking capabilities. It can collect different types of data from your web browser, including your history, keystrokes, cookies, IP address, geographic location, zip code, email account, telephone number, fax, residency, user names, passwords and financial details. The owners of the adware can sell your private information without asking for your permission or notifying you. Personal and financial input is sold on darknet markets. The people who acquire your data can use it to hack your online accounts and steal from them. With sufficient information, they can even register accounts under your name. This would allow the cyber criminals to make purchases and take credit. You can end up having to prove that you did not use the funds yourself.
