I wrote this article to help you remove Greatwork. This Greatwork removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Greatwork.info is anything but great. It is a malicious website but, more importantly, it is a warning. Seeing the page all the time means that your machine is infected with a cyber infection. Yes, the page indicates the presence of a browser hijacker in your system. The pest uses Greatwork.info as a front and lurks behind it. This is its way of informing you of its presence. Take the hint. Hijackers are incredibly annoying pests and they have no place on your computer. Nothing good will come from having it on board. On the contrary. The infection only brings troubles which keep piling up with time.
Most users tend to thinks of hijackers are only irritating and they are indeed. But there is a lot more than that. None of the issues which we will discuss in a minute can compare with the security threat you are facing by hosting the parasite. It jeopardizes your privacy. It spies on you in complete silence and has access to your private data. We are talking IPs, email addresses, usernames, passwords, accounts, browser-related data, etc. If you are particularly unlucky the hijacker can even steal your personally identifiable and financial credentials.
The bigger problem is, however, that the virus doesn’t settle just for observing. It also shares everything it finds. It keeps on gathering the data and when it decides it has enough, it sends it to the crooks behind it. Thus, some strangers with highly questionable intentions get access to your private life. You do know that these hackers are the last people who should have such access, don’t you? They will use your details for nothing but their malicious purposes without blinking or they will just as easily sell them to third parties. Either way, this will end badly for you. So, don’t allow it. As soon as you spot the Greatwork.info page, accept the facts and start looking for the hijacker. When you find it, delete it on the spot.
As we already said, the security risk is your biggest problem but it is not the only one. Of course not. Once in your machine, the hijacker doesn’t waste time. The problems start with your browsing which turns to hell. You cannot surf the web without this malicious pest`s interference. For one thing, the Greatwork.info website is everywhere you look. It appears constantly, you get redirected back to it, you see it among the search results. The page even replaces your homepage and search engine. And, did you agree to that reshuffle? No. Did it happen anyway? Yes. This is because the infection doesn’t need your permission to make changes in your settings. It acts as it sees fit and the only thing you can do to stop it is deleting it.
What is more, the hijacker also bombards you with countless unreliable advertisements on daily basis. Your whole screen is covered with ads. Pop-ups, discounts, pop-unders, video ads, offers, deals, coupons, discounts and whatever else you can think of. Do you see how the pest effectively ruins your online experience? You cannot find anything you are looking for anymore. What you can easily find, though, is more parasites. Everything the hijacker generates is unsafe.
Clicking on the wrong ad/link/page could mean automatically downloading more infections. Do you want to infect your already infected PC even more? It is already suffering because of the pest you currently have. Because of it, your machine lags all the time. Your system crashes. Your browsers freeze frequently. What you need to do it get rid of this hijacker immediately before things worsen. Use our removal guide at the end of this article and tackle the intruder.
Once you do, make sure you won`t get infected again. Do you know how the virus managed to slither in this time? Do you know how to prevent that from happening again? Infections like this need your inactive cooperation to enter. They are bound to seek your permission as, without it, they cannot succeed. So, they rely on tricks to dupe you. The oldest tricks in the book like freeware, malicious spam email messages and attachments, corrupted links/pages, unverified sources, third-party pop-ups, etc.
This is why it is crucial to be extra careful. Your haste and distraction are what all parasites pray for. If you give in to carelessness, they succeed. But if you pay a little extra attention you have a chance and catching them on the spot. Be vigilant. It is always better and easier to prevent and infection from entering that to deal with it later.
