I wrote this article to help you remove VidSqaure. This VidSqaure removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
VidSqaure pretends to be a DNS service that can give you access to geo restricted content and services. As convenient as it sounds, it hides many potential dangers. First of all, the VidSqaure program changes your DNS settings. This allows it to monitor your online activities, meaning the app can see which websites you visit, your search requests, and the pages you view. Ad banners and pop-ups labeled as “Ads by VidSqaure” or “Brought to you by VidSqaure” can be noticed on websites that never had ads before. All this leads to the conclusion that VidSqaure is an adware program.
All adware programs use aggressive marketing to lure users into impulsive purchases. Even if you don’t buy anything advertised by VidSqaure, the people behind this utility will generate pay-per-click revenue. They will get payed for every ad you click on. That explains why you can see so many ads. The more ads you are exposed to, the bigger the chance you click on some of them. And those adverts can be very sneaky, too. The VidSqaure adware can open pop-up windows unexpectedly, thus, trick you into clicking on it unintentionally.
If you are infected with VidSqaure, you may have noticed that all ads you see are related to your resent online activities. This is so because the adware is constantly spying on you. It collects data on you and uses it to customize offers which will appeal especially to you. Eventually, that data would be send to the owners of the adware. To make even more money, those people may sell your data to third parties. To make the matter even worse, those third parties may be hackers. Be extra careful if you are infected. The adware can steal your user names and passwords, therefore, do not log in to any banking service. It would be wise to avoid social media, too.
Now is a good time to mention the potential danger hidden behind the ads you see. Some of the ads lead to malicious websites. Once you open such a site, a drive-by download initiates. Such a download doesn’t require an interaction with the user and it is almost completely undetectable. All kinds of viruses and malware may be distributed via this kind of download. VidSqaure is known to open new tabs and windows during a normal online browsing session. Experts agree that most of the shown websites are scam or promote other adware applications.
VidSqaure has an official website, registered at the domain address vidsqaure.com. It is used to promote the adware as a useful DNS service. There are no download buttons on the page, nor information on where the application can be acquired. The end user license agreement (EULA) reveals that the company has reduced its responsibility for users’ security to a minimum. It has issued warranty disclaimers and limitation of liability statements. The entity behind Vidsqaure is called Epikai. The only form of contact it has provided is an email address.
If you haven’t personally installed VidSqaure, there are other possible distribution methods. Bundling, for instance, is commonly used by this adware. Developers hide additional software under a custom/advanced tab. Users are led to believe that only PC gurus can use the advanced installation, where the standard/fast installation is for the average user. That’s as far from the truth as it can be. The advanced option is for everyone. Only under that tab can you see what programs are being installed. There you can deselect any unwanted app. Believe in your abilities and opt for an advanced installation.
Other distribution methods are: spam emails, corrupted links, malicious ads and fake software updates. When updating your software, always download new versions from the official websites. If you suspect that your computer is infected, don’t trust any alerts or messages. It is very likely that those are deceptive. Run a full scan and delete any suspicions elements. Don’t forget to restore your DNS settings, otherwise VidSqaure may find its way back in and infect your system anew.
