Blkget.com “Virus” Removal

I wrote this article to help you remove Blkget.com. This Blkget.com removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

If you constantly get redirected to Blkget.com, or pop-ups from Blkget.com keep appearing, then you can be sure, your machine is infected with adware. The Blkget.com website is only available for users with its adware installed on their computers. If you try to reach the website with an adware-free machine, you will be able to see only a message stating that the server is working, but the domain is used for an ad related service. That can only mean one thing, this website’s sole purpose is to display commercials.

If you have the Blkget.com adware installed on your computer, this means that everything you do is recorded and can be used against you. What websites you visit, what you are searching for on the Internet, all your online habits are monitored, and the data is sent to the people behind the Blkget.com adware. If you are not careful enough and log in to some banking service or social media, the hackers can get your user name and password. You can imagine what they can do with that information.

With the data collected on you, the Blkget.com adware can target you with ads, especially chosen for you. But, ads can’t be dangerous, can they? Of course they can! The pay-per-click mechanism is widely spread among search engine providers, however, unlike authorized ads, displayed by the big companies, Blkget.com employs rather mischievous tactics. The scheme is simple: anyone with money can advertise. And I mean anyone! It doesn’t matter if the promoted products are safe or dangerous, or even legal. The hackers behind the Blkget.com adware care only about money. If they manage to lure you into an online purchase and you pay via credit card, since the adware is still running on your computer, they can steal your credit card details. Don’t underestimate them. Those ads will intrigue you, for they are based on your online habits.

The Blkget.com Virus

The danger from Blkget.com’s ads does not end here. Ads can be malicious, they can redirect you to infected websites, where much more dangerous threats (including ransomware) can be downloaded to your computer. This can happen without you even noticing. A drive-by download is the term used to describe an automatic download that starts without any user’s interaction. It takes a wink to execute and there is no way for it to be canceled by the user, especially since it has no visual representation. This type of distribution is almost completely undetectable.

The ads are not only malicious, they are annoying, too. The longer the Blkget.com adware stays on your computer, the more aggressive its ads will become. You will start seeing ads on websites that used to be ad-free. Those sites are still ad-free, but the Blkget.com software on your computer places ads which only you can see. You will find yourself drowning in a sea of special offers, pop-up ads, coupons, video ads, deals, discounts etc. The websites you see those ads on don’t profit from them, for they have nothing to do with them. The Blkget.com adware makes the ads appear as if they are part of the host website, while in reality, the ads are only part of the rogue program.

We are talking about this Blkget.com adware installed on your computer, but do you remember installing it? No, you don’t. It managed to gain your permission to be installed without you even noticing. The Blkget.com adware may have come as bundled software to some freeware. To make some money, developers often use a method called bundling to hide additional software under a custom/advanced tab. If a user rushes through the installation process, this tab may be overlooked. Never rush through an installation. Check the terms and conditions and make sure you know what you are installing. Spam emails and torrents are other popular methods for adware distribution.
