I wrote this article to help you remove Vmxclient.exe. This Vmxclient.exe removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Vmxclient.exe is a malicious program. The tool is adware. It poses a risk to people’s online security. Vmxclient.exe will try to lead you to sponsored websites. The insidious program applies deceptive techniques to make users visit supported domains voluntarily. It displays ads, containing embedded links. Vmxclient.exe does not test the security status of the websites it promotes. The owners of the rogue program agree to support the content of all paying parties. They do not regard users’ personal security as a priority. In fact, the activity of the adware puts people’s online safety in more jeopardy. The clandestine program is set to track your online sessions and collect information on you.
Vmxclient.exe displays various types of advertisements. The formats can be sorted into a couple of categories: pop-ups and pop-unders. The former are more intrusive than the latter, though they are easier to avoid. Pop-ups appear in new browser windows. The ad window can be regular, box-sized, and full screen. Pop-ups are the original advertisements. They have set the standard for direct online campaigns. The content is straightforward and aggressive. The downside is that sales pitches can be intrusive and annoying. Because of this, programs like Vmxclient.exe use improved strategies. The furtive tool displays pop-under windows which do not intrude on users’ sessions as much. Floating, interstitial, contextual, transitional, and inline are the variations of pop-under ads. They can still be intrusive, as some of them cover parts of the page and follow the user as he scrolls down.
The contents of the ads vary from shopping offers to raffles and guaranteed prizes. Vmxclient.exe promotes bargain deals for various consumer goods. This includes technological devices, clothing, furniture, accessories, decorative elements, sports gear, gardening equipment, household items, and many others. The adware uses marketing tricks to spark people’s interest. It hands out coupons, lists discounts, sales, package deals, and other exclusives. The covert tool highlights the ads with bright color patterns, flash animations, cursive fonts, and other special effects. Apart from shopping deals, Vmxclient.exe promotes prize giveaways. By rule of thumb, if you are offered a free item, there are strings attached. It is best to avoid unconfirmed advertisements. The risk is not worth the reward.
The other security threat around Vmxclient.exe is privacy-related. The clandestine program has the ability to extract information from the web browser. It can record your history, keystrokes, tracking cookies, IP address, geographic location, area code, demographic details, email, telephone number, physical address, user names, passwords, and other sensitive input. The developers of the adware do not ask for authorization to monitor and collect users’ data. Vmxclient.exe is set to record input from the web browser unconditionally. The gathered information is traded on dark markets, again without the user’s permission. Your private accounts can be penetrated and your deposits extorted.
There are a few ways to get infected with Vmxclient.exe. The adware uses underhanded distribution techniques, known as dark patterns. The preferred method is bundling. The malicious software can travel with another application, like a freeware or shareware tool. Vmxclient.exe will be offered as a bonus with the main program from the bundle. You have to find the option and change the preset. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of the utilities you intend to add to your computer. To stay safe, stick to confirmed sources.
Spam emails are another common host for Vmxclient.exe. The adware hides behind attachments to bogus messages. The spammer tries to make the letter convincing, so as to fool the recipient. He can state that the email is a notification from a legitimate entity, like the national post, a courier firm, a bank, a social network, a shopping platform, a government institution, or the police department. To check whether a given message is genuine, proof the contacts. The email and the listed coordinates should match the information on the entity’s official website.
Another way for Vmxclient.exe to enter your machine is through a drive-by installation. This is the simplest propagation vector. It just takes a single click. You can contact the adware when entering a corrupted website or following a compromised link. The download and install of the secluded tool is automatized. We advise users to be cautious about their sources. Our recommendation is to conduct your research on unfamiliar websites. Safety should be your number one priority.

I’ve removed all adware programs and malicious browser extensions, but there are still programs running called: dataup (32 bit), winvmx client, and svcvmx (32 bit). These are all located in C:\Users\Yummywax\AppData\Local\ntuserlitelist\(either dataup or svcmx).
Here’s the fun part: when I try to delete these folders, I get “You need permission to preform this action.” Thing is, I’m the administrator.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
I’ve already taken ownership of the folder and given myself full control under permissions, but I still “need permission.”
I’ve gone into the registries and done the “Take Ownership” trick, where it appears on my right-click menu but I still “need permission.”
I’ve gone into Command Prompt (as admin) and used “del /F /S /Q /A (file pathway), but “Access is denied” even with the extra commands.
I’ve gone into Task Manager under startup, and tried to disable Cpx and svcvmx, but nothing happens.
I’ve gone into the registries and tried to delete its startup entries, but I unable to.
I’ve ran both UnHackMe and RogueKiller, but they were not able to delete the files.
I’ve tried deleting it in Safe Mode, but I receive the same message.
Hey Alexander,
Please try installing this software https://emcosoftware.com/unlock-it. It is called UnlockIT and it is free. Then navigate to the files and folders you want to delete, right-click on them and select Unlock. After that you will be able to delete it.
Thanks,
Daniel
