It was created by Mindspark Interactive LTD which is not famous for developing helpful and safe programs. The tool tricks you into installing it, thinking it is helpful, and then it proves the opposite.
Once in your system, the PUP starts by attacking your browser. It adds a malicious extension to it, making it unreliable. Also, it doesn’t need your permission for the modifications it makes and it doesn’t even inform you about them. You just open your browser one day to see everything is different. Your home page. Your search engine. Other preferred settings. After being infected, your browser now shows you only one kind of results. Sponsored ones. It goes without saying that a sponsored link is unsafe. Hackers use sponsored links to boost traffic to specific pages by redirecting you to them and if you click they gain profit. Yes. They use the pay-per-click mechanism to fill their pockets and they use you to help them. Would you like to be helping crooks? Of course not. But that’s not all. You also expose yourself to more malware infections.
Aside from sponsoring crooks, you may also compromise your already compromised PC further. Sponsored links lead to very questionable pages which made be laced with parasites. And if you click you get infected. Stay away from these results. But, unfortunately, they are not the only thing you should avoid. Next come the ads. Of course, there will be ads. Your screen will be flooded will commercials in all forms all the time. Pop-ups, offers, discounts, coupons, deals, best prices, whatever you can think of. You can imagine how this can completely ruin your browsing experience. Being interrupted all the time prevents you from getting any work done. And keep in mind that the ads are as dangerous as the links. You click, you get infected. In addition, you get redirected to suspicious pages on daily basis.
Your computer underperforms. Its speed worsen. Your system crashes/freezes frequently. Your internet connection is horrible. All of these issues come along with the nasty PUP you are stuck with. And, to top it all, your private life is no longer private. EasyDocMerge Toolbar spies on you and monitors your every online move. IPs, email addresses, usernames, passwords, accounts, browsing-related data, like history, queries, results, etc. But what is worse is that your financial and identifiable information are not safe either. The PUP can get to anything. It keeps on gathering and when it deems it has enough it send all of it to the crooks who published it. Do you now see why your private life isn’t private anymore? Cybercriminals have access to it. They have your sensitive data and they can use it for their malicious purposes. Don’t sit around waiting for the worst. Take action. Use our removal guide to get rid of this pest once and for all.
Also, make sure an infection like this, or any other infection in that matter, won`t attack you again. First, get yourself a good anti-malware software. Second, think of how EasyDocMerge Toolbar infected you and do your best to prevent it from happening again. Infections are sneaky. They use all kinds of trick to dupe you and if you are not careful, they succeed. Take your time when installing software as some threats travel in packages with other programs. Don’t skip installation step. Read the Terms and Conditions unless you want to agree to something you are completely against. Choose the Advanced setting instead of the Basic ones. They take more time but also provide you complete control over the whole process. You can deselect any program which you don’t want to download.
The same goes for freeware/shareware bundles. Especially if you use unverified download sources. Also, be careful with spam emails, compromised links, fake updates, etc. All cyber infections use tricks but if you don’t let yourself be fooled, their trick are useless. Be vigilant. Remember! Preventing an infection is much easier that having to deal with it later.
