Uninstall ARCHER.DLL “Virus”

I wrote this article to help you remove ARCHER.DLL. This ARCHER.DLL removal guide works for all Windows versions.

ARCHER.DLL is a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The shady tool is used to generate revenue by exploiting the resources of users’ computers. The PUP displays pop-up advertisements and collects information on PC users. Neither of these tasks is authorized or regulated. ARCHER.DLL can record personal and financial details which should be kept private. The rogue program tries to attract people by showing them bargain shopping deals. The ads redirect to third party websites with a questionable security status.

What problems can ARCHER.DLL lead to?

The PUP uses the pay-per-click system to raise proceeds through supported advertising. To get people interested, the furtive program focuses on exclusive deals for high quality goods. The product palette features garments, accessories, technological devices, toys, furniture, decorative elements, gardening equipment, sports gear, games and other items. To make the ads more appealing, ARCHER.DLL uses colorful patterns, flash animations, cursive fonts and other special effects. The PUP produces different types of ads, including banners, in-text links, coupon boxes, freebies, transitional, interstitial, floating, contextual, inline, comparison and full-page ads. You might not realize that the advertisements derive from a common source.

The owners of ARCHER.DLL get paid for taking users to sponsored websites. They receive a certain amount of commissions in accordance to the hits the ads score. This payment method is known as the pay-per-click system. Since users’ activity is the main determinant for the success of the PUP, the ads are plentiful. You will be overwhelmed by an influx of pop-up windows every time you use your web browser. There is no way to halt or limit the ad flow, apart from uninstalling ARCHER.DLL. Keep in mind that the PUP does not guarantee the reliability of the websites it links to. Any of them could turn out to be malicious.

The other risk ARCHER.DLL exposes users to is having their personal information recorded and sold on darknet markets. The covert program is set to track your sessions and gather input from your web browser. The PUP can access your browsing history, keystrokes, tracking cookies, IP address, country of origin, area code, email, telephone number, demographic profile, user names, passwords and other private data. The gathered information is traded on online black markets without the user’s knowledge or consent. Your sensitive details can fall into the hands of cyber criminals.

How did ARCHER.DLL enter my computer?

There are a couple of ways to contact ARCHER.DLL. The usual distribution technique for the furtive program is bundling. The PUP can hitch a ride with another application, like a pirated tool, a freeware or shareware utility. The option for a bonus program would be included in the terms and conditions of the main software. To avoid letting harmful programs into your computer, review the end user license agreement (EULA) and uncheck any additional tools. They could be malware in disguise.

The other dark pattern ARCHER.DLL uses is spam emails. The PUP lurks behind attachments, stated to be documentation. The file can be presented as a recommended letter, a receipt, an invoice, a bill, a fine, a contract, a legal notice or something else you would regard as important. Before proceeding to access an attachment, check the origin of the message. If the sender has written on behalf of a certain company or entity, he should have used an official account for the purpose. You can go to the website of the corresponding organization and refer to the contact page.
