I wrote this article to help you remove Guntony. This Guntony removal guide is working for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Guntony is a malicious ad-supported program or adware. The rogue tool claims to have an association with Google Chrome, but there is no merit to this statement. The same is true for the functionality of Guntony. The insidious program displays pop-up advertisements, linking to sponsored websites. The ads are supposed to redirect you to shopping platforms which offer bargain deals. This may not be the case. The policies of the adware undermine the position of the end user. Security experts have deemed Guntony to be an unreliable program. It is not advised to use its services.
What problems does Guntony pose to my security?
Guntony supports third party websites without running them through a preliminary scan. The adware has been developed to raise proceeds. It achieves its goal at the cost of security. The proprietors of the shady program agree to promote the content of all paying advertisers. Guntony generates pop-up ads, containing shopping offers. This encompasses discounts, sales, coupons, freebies, auctions and other bargain deals.
The ads appear in various formats, like banners, in-text links, full-page windows, inline, transitional, floating, interstitial, contextual and comparison ads. The adware flags all of its windows. It attaches a label which contains a phrase like “Ads by Guntony”, “Brought to you by Guntony” or “Powered by Guntony”. This is how you can recognize them. Keep in mind that they are highly risky. Any given ad could redirect you to a corrupted website. We urge you to avoid them.
The advertising campaigns are not the only activity Guntony carries out. The other task the rogue tool performs is just as harmful for your security, if not more. Depending on the information you enter into your web browser, the level of danger can vary. The adware has the ability to track users’ sessions and extract information from their browser. This includes your history, keystrokes, IP address, geographic location, postal code, email account, telephone number, physical address, user names and passwords. The owners of the secluded program sell the gathered data on dark markets. The people who acquire it can use it to break into your accounts and steal from them.
How did Guntony get installed to my computer?
In many cases, users have no idea how Guntony got access to their machine. This is commonplace, as the furtive program uses underhanded methods to sneak behind users’ backs. The usual routine for the adware is to get bundled with another program and ask to be installed together with it. The shady tool comes as a bonus with the main application. You have to locate where it is mentioned in the terms and conditions and unmark it. It is best not to use freeware and pirated tools. Stick to confirmed programs.
The other distribution method Guntony makes use of is spam emails. The clandestine program latches onto attachments which pack and hide its installer. The host file might look like a genuine document. The same goes for the letter the sender has written. It is easy for a spammer to compose a convincing message and copy the details of a reliable entity. Spam emails are often about an urgent matter which requires the recipient’s immediate attention. This is how they push people to open attachments. When you get an important message, you should check the sender’s email account. This is the best sign as to whether or not he is a reliable person.
