I wrote this article to help you remove Maxon Click. This Maxon Click removal guide is working for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
What is Maxon Click?
When talking about Maxon Click we couldn’t miss to mention Attentioner.com as they are closely related. Maxon Click differs from the usual Ad-frauds you may have encountered with. It comes up with numerous phony messages to convince you to download fake applications or cause you to waste time and money using other types of fraud.
Most of the websites you visit are completely covered with all kinds or irritating ads, like banners, pop-ups, box messages etc. Usually, such ad-flooded pages are shady, suspicious and untrustworthy and must be avoided because there is a good chance to harm your PC. Sometimes, these ads are offered by the sites themselves and have nothing to do with you but if you see them in absolutely every page you load there is a good chance that you may have installed the Maxon Click on your machine. Especially, if the annoying pop-ups and the rest appear even on websites which normally don’t have integrated ads. Maxon Click is an adware type of program/browser add-on. It`s developers only aim is to display ads on your screen and gain profit via the pay-per-click method.
If you have it installed onto your computer it will overcrowd it with all types of intrusive advertisements prompting you to click on them. Usually, it doesn’t matter which browser you are using Maxon Click would work on all of them.
Don’t worry, though. Adware pieces, like Maxon Click, are considered pretty innocuous in comparison to viruses or, even worse, ransomware. Normally, a simple uninstall will be enough remove them but in case it is not, you can always follow the removal steps we have prepared for you and get rid of them once and for all. Even though, Maxon Click doesn’t intend to directly harm your computer, the ads it displays may be potentially dangerous. Some of them may redirect you to third party webpages which are flooded with malicious content. The chances of this happening may be slim but a threat is still a threat. That’s why clicking on any of the ads is not recommended even if it is just to close them. Is you happen to be redirected to another site filled with other ads, make you sure to close it as soon as possible before accidentally clicking anywhere.
How to protect yourself from Maxon Click or other adware?
To be able to properly protect yourself first you should know how adware like Maxon infects you. There are a couple of commonly used techniques.
The first distribution method that comes to mind is spam emailing. It is not that effective, though, because since it is a spam message it goes to the spam folder which users hardly open. Of course, there is always a chance a spam email to manage to go around the mail filters and to land directly in your regular inbox folder. Just make sure that you double-check any new messages before opening them – is the name of the sender familiar or does the title looks suspicious? If the answer to the first question is “no” and to the second “yes” – don’t open the email.
Downloading files or program from file-sharing sites and illegal torrent sites also enhance the chances of getting an adware such as Maxon Click. It’s an unwritten rule to stay away from shady sites like that. Downloading anything from such addresses is undoubtedly a very stupid idea. Adware would be the least problematic unwanted program that you may get by downloading from such sources.
The most effective adware distribution method is probably the program-bundling. The unwanted app is bundled with another app and when you download and install it you install the adware as well. Usually such bundling is to be expected with cheap or free applications, but it can practically happen with every piece of software that you install on your PC. This tactic`s effectiveness is due to the fact that users hardly ever read the details and terms of the installation and they don’t realize they have gotten more than they wanted until the Maxon Click is already in their system. To avoid such unpleasant situation download only from legitimate sources like Google Play Store. If an installation menu is present uncheck all options that will lead to additional apps installing on your device.
If you take all these pieces of advice you shouldn’t have a problem protecting yourself. If you have already been infected by Maxon Click and don’t know how to deal with it, proceed to the Removal Guide below.
