I wrote this article to help you remove Checkland.site. This XXXXXXXX removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
The Checkland.site page is a bad sign. If you constantly get redirected to this website, prepare for trouble. Its existence points straight to a browser hijacker infection. This annoying parasite is responsible for the large number of ads you get bombarded with every day. But that’s not all it is capable of doing.
Hijackers are also known for their ability to modify any browser setting they see fit. For example, your homepage will get replaced by the Checkland.site redirect. The same thing applies for your new tab pages and preferred search engine as well. Also, browser hijackers are known to be able to install questionable software on your browsers like fake utility tools, extensions and toolbars, without bothering to ask for your permission.
The most common causes for a browser hijacker cyber infection are spam emails and attachments, freeware, fake update messages, infected links and ads, corrupted torrent files, etc. If a random pop-up shows on your screen and is urging you to click on a shady update link – don’t fall for this trick! Instead, use official and licensed sources only, when you need to update software on your computer.
Don’t just blindly trust a pop-up message that came out of nowhere. Speaking of software, if you’re about to install a program or application on your computer, we highly suggest that you select Advanced/Custom mode in the Setup Wizard. By doing so, you’ll be able to view the real contents of what you’re about to install on your computer. The deselection of any optional installations is strongly advised, as that’s most likely just malware that waits for a chance to gain access to your computer.
Fear not, as browser hijackers are not as dangerous as a virus like ransomware or Trojan Horses. In fact, many users do not consider hijackers to be real ‘viruses’, since they limit their attack to browsers only, and do not infect the entire computer system. However, don’t go thinking that browser hijackers are harmless. They pose a serious risk for your online security and privacy. Through this cyber parasite, hackers can easily obtain personal data such as but not limited to IP addresses, passwords, Login ID, as well as credit card numbers and bank account credentials.
Having a hijacker infection will lead to your browser to frequently crash, freeze and even stop working altogether. You may even experience a slow internet connection, due to the presence of this malware. The longer you delay acting against this cyber pest, the more trouble it will be able to cause. That’s why we urge you to act quickly, so you can protect your private data and return to a normal and ad-free browsing.
