I wrote this article to help you remove Cobalten.com. This Cobalten.com removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Do you constantly get redirected to the Cobalten.com website? If you do, it looks like your computer has been infiltrated by a browser hijacker. This means that you might experience difficulties having a normal browsing session. This is due to the hijacker’s abilities to generate annoying ad content. The changes don’t stop there. You will notice that your homepage, new tab pages and preferred search provider have been replaced by the same site – Cobalten.com.
What’s more, because this malicious parasite is able to obtain your web data like browsing history, habits and search queries, you will find it is hard to ignore the generated pop-ups, ads, exclusive deals, special offers and sales, blinking messages, etc. This is because they will be specifically targeted, according to your web preferences. The goal is to make you click on them, so as to generate revenue through the pay-per-click method.
Browser hijackers are widely distributed. You may get infected with them by opening spam emails and attachments, via free bundled software, fake update requests, torrent files, dubious links and pop-ups, etc. It is important that users get their software updates from licensed and reliable sources only. Don’t just blindly trust a random update pop-up that is trying to make you click on a suspicious link.
Also, when downloading content from the internet, we recommend opting for Custom or Advanced mode in the Setup Wizard. This gives you full control over the process and can view the full content of the downloaded software. Then, you can easily deselect any program or application that you deem unnecessary or never intended to download in the first place.
While browser hijackers are not considered to be very dangerous, that does not mean that they should be underestimated. Sure, a large number of ads might not seem like a real threat, but looks can be deceiving. Such advertised content can reroute you to potentially infected sources that may open backdoors for other viruses like Trojans, worms or even spyware! Not just that, but you can also be one click away from giving hackers access to private information such as but not limited to passwords, bank accounts, credit card numbers, IP addresses, Login ID, etc.
Save your personal data from getting compromised and return to a peaceful and add-free browsing experience by immediately removing this annoying browser hijacker. We can lead you through a detailed set of instructions. Just read the rest of this article to find out how you can get rid of this intrusive hijacker.
