I wrote this article to help you remove Whitesearch.com. This Whitesearch.com removal guide works for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Whitesearch.com is a platform which provides custom Google search. In other words, the website is an alternative search engine. There are a lot of websites which offer to improve users’ browsing sessions, only to lead them astray. Browsing the Internet can be a challenging task. You may often find yourself struggling to find the information you are looking for. While a lot of platforms promise to help you in this quest, many of them are fraudulent. Whitesearch.com is a prime example. The developers of the website do not have good intentions. Their platform hides a brooding danger. It is a host for a browser hijacker.

The hijacker behind Whitesearch.com interferes with users’ online sessions. Its first activity is to edit the browser’s DNS settings. When it penetrates your computer, you will discover that your homepage and default search engine have been reset to Whitesearch.com. You will be unable to revert back to your custom preferences. This is because the clandestine program will keep on changing them every time you try to. The hijacker can affect most browsing clients, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Opera and others.

The Whitesearch.com virus

You may not have a clue as to how the Whitesearch.com hijacker has gained entry in your system. The furtive program uses propagation vectors known as dark patterns. It can hitch a ride with another piece of software. The host for a malicious program is called a download client. It will merge the executable of the hijacker with its own setup file. When you start the installation of your program of choice, you will be offered to have another tool added for free. Note that this option will only be listed in the terms and conditions of the download client. Programs like the Whitesearch.com hijacker do not run their own setup wizard or open a dialog box. To prevent allowing a dangerous utility into your system, you need to read the end user license agreement (EULA) of the programs you intend to make use of.

The other common way for the Whitesearch.com hijacker to sneak into your PC is through a spam email. The sender will try to make the fake message convincing. He will write on behalf of a genuine company or organization, like the national post, the local police department, a courier firm, a bank, a government branch, an institution, a social network or a shopping platform. To check whether a given message is reliable, look up the sender’s contacts. He should have used an internal email account to write to you. For reference, you can visit the official website of the corresponding entity. Other ways for the Whitesearch.com hijacker to infiltrate your machine include corrupted websites and links. You should be careful with your online sources. Only visit websites whose reliability you are certain about.

When its makes its way into your computer, the Whitesearch.com hijacker will start to interfere with your web browser’s activity. It will change your search results, but not by optimizing them. Rather, it will insert supported pages amid the actual matches to your search queries. The sponsored results are risky. Any of them could redirect you to a corrupted website and result in a malware infection. The authors of the Whitesearch.com hijacker get paid to support third party content. They run promotional campaigns in a couple of ways. The more effective approach is displaying pop-up ads. You will be bombarded with advertisements every time you use your browser. They will show you bargain offers for various consumer goods. Keep in mind that the listed deals are not confirmed to be genuine. They involve the same risk as the fake search results.

Another threat around the Whitesearch.com hijacker is data theft. The sinister program can record personal and financial details from your web browser. It can obtain information like your history, tracking cookies, keystrokes, IP address, geographic location, user names, passwords, email account, telephone number, physical address, full name and other sensitive data. The owners of the insidious program can gather and sell your private input on the darkweb without asking for your permission or notifying you about their intentions.
